Seriously who doesn’t like slurpies? In fact one of my friends loves them so much when he gets his first home he aspires to owning 3 7-Eleven slurpie machines and have 3 flavours on tap. Having said that I’ve never thought about how a slurpie machine actually works, nor the actual temperature of the slurpie mixture comming out (-3°C). You see slurpies are mostly made of water which we all know freezes at 0°C so why doesn’t the slurpie mixture just freeze into one solid block? The answer is twofold.
1) Sugar acts as an antifreeze agent.
2) The mixture is continually agitated.
